Hello readers! Today I am bringing you a list of all the series that I would one day like to finish. First, I will show series I have started in 2020, which is too many, and we will explore all the way back to nine years ago in 2011. This post will NOT include ongoing series as I cannot finish them even if I wanted to. However, my next post will be series that are ongoing that I am in the middle of! I spent most of 2019 trying to finish as many series as I could and managed 12. In 2020, I have been slacking a bit and have only finished 3 series. While putting this list together, I was really shocked at how long some of these have been on my TBR. Before you read on, let me know down below what series has been on your TBR the longest and how long it has been!
2020
I have actually started around 12 different series in 2020. HOWEVER, only 4 of them are finished. The first series is the Chronicles of Narnia. I have read one of the books before. I did read three of them this year out of seven. I don’t know if or when I will continue because I liked every one less than the one before.
Next is Diviners by Libba Bray. There are three other books in this series, the last of which just came out. I loved Diviners as I was reading it but I haven’t had the urge to continue the series as of yet. I don’t know if I will pick up any more of them in 2020, but I will continue eventually.
The third series I started in 2020 is Bird Box. As far as I know, Malorie is the only other book that will be in this duology, correct me if I am wrong. I most likely will get to this in 2020. I have a 12 week wait on Libby for it because it just came out this year. I will most likely get it close to Christmas and it will be one of the last books I get to in 2020.
The last finished series I started was the School for Good and Evil series. This one was a book club book for the Whimsy Book Club. I have read books one and two this year out of six books. I don’t know if I will get around to anymore in 2020. In November, there is a middle grade readathon called Believeathon that I will be participating in. I already have quite a few books on that TBR, but I will add this to it if I have the time.
2019
I only have two series from 2019. I tried my hardest in 2019 not to start any series and finish the ones I did start. However, I did start the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. I did manage to read two of them in 2019 and I read one more this year. The series totals 9 books. I recently acquired the last few in the series so I can add it to the list of series to finish in 2021 for sure.
The second series I started was the Robert Langdon series by Dan Brown. I have read two books out of the five and physically own all the books in this series so there isn’t much of an excuse for this one. I do love this series, but I keep pushing it back for other things on my TBR.
2018
There is only one series I have for this year and that is March by John Lewis. This one is a non-ficiton graphic novel series. I read the first one in 2018 and the second one in 2020. There is only one remaining. I have started it but have yet to finish the last book. Hopefully I will get to it at some point this month.
2016
The trilogy I started in 2016 is called Tales of a New World by PC Cast. I have read over twenty different books by PC Cast through the years and this is probably my favorite. Many of her books before these are a subject of their time and are slightly problematic. However, I think she has a redeemed a lot of her previous issues in this series. There is a more healthy YA romance, discussions of PTSD, talks of the importance of emotional support animals, and characters who are open to new ideas. I read the second book in the trilogy in 2019 and just have yet to buy the last one to read it.
2014
In 2014, I started and read the Shatter Me trilogy, when it was a trilogy. The author, Tahereh Mafi, decided after a few years to start the series back up. I did reread the 1st book in 2019 and the 2nd and 3rd book in 2020 so, I can now read the books in the series that I have yet to read. I don’t own any of the books in the series that I have yet to read but I will get to buying and reading those, most likely, in 2021.
2013
The first of two series I have for 2013 is Lux by Jennifer L Armentrout. I reread the first book in the series, which is the only one I have read, in 2019. I wanted to see if I still was interested and I decided I want to finish it. I was going to listen to them on Hoopla but I don’t like the narrator’s voice so, I will wait until I get to buying them.
The second series is now a trilogy called Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion. In 2013, this book was a stand alone and, as far as I knew, was not planned to be a series. I did really love the book and the movie and I would love to continue eventually. I don’t even really know if it is staying as a trilogy but I assume it is.
2012
The next series is called Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. I currently have read and own the 1st two books in the series. As I read them eight years ago, I need to reread them to see if I would even still want to finish the series. I remember basically nothing other than that there are angels and the main character’s name is Nora. One of these days, I will get around to rereading the 1st and 2nd book to see if I really do want to finish the series.
2011
The last series is called Smile by Raina Telgemeier. This is an autobiographical graphic novel trilogy. I thought it was a duology until I was researching for this post. After four years, in 2019, Telgemeier added on a 3rd book called Guts. I read Smile in 2011 and reread it in 2019. I recently purchased the sequel called Sisters with the intent to finish the series for Believeathon in November. I will still be reading sisters but I wont be finishing the series!
I have so many series on my tbr for next year, for example Bird Box and Hush, Hush. I have like 20 different other series too that I want to read as well and look forward to hearing about new series to add to my own tbr.
